Introduction to Gomoku
Gomoku is one of the board games. However, it can be played as a paper-and-pencil game.
This game is played on a 15 x 15 board.
Rules in Gomoku
Players alternately placing the stone of their colour on the board. Black plays first. The main objective of this game is to form an unbroken chain of 5 stones vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
Example game 1
Black wins this game because the player manages to form a chain of 5 stones horizontally.
Example game 2
White wins this game because the player manages to form a chain of 5 stones diagonally.
Example game 3
if the placement of stone forms a line of nore than 5 stones of the same colour, it is not considered a win.😁
Common Winning Position
4 stones are placed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally where no block is blocking its way
In this case, the player gives the opponent 2 choices to place the stone. Thus, it is unblockable and the black will win this game.
2 groups of 3 stones are placed in which one of the stones is shared between 2 groups of stones
In this case, the player gives the opponent 2 choices to place the stone. When the opponent block one of the 3 stones group, the other group of 3 stones will form a 4 stones formation which is unblockable. So the black will win this game.
1 group of 3 stones and 1 group of 4 stones are placed in which one of the stones is shared between 2 groups of stones
In this case, the player forces the opponent to block the 4 stones. Then, the other group of 3 stones will form a 4 stones formation which is unblockable. So the white will win this game.
3 stones are placed between 2 stones at both sides with a space
In this case, the player gives the opponent 2 choices to place the stone. Thus, it is unblockable and the white will win this game.
2 group of 4 stones are placed in which one of the stones is shared between 2 groups of stones
In this case, the player gives the opponent 2 choices to place the stone. Thus, it is unblockable and the white will win this game.
